WHO IS BILLY KIRKWOOD?
Stand Up/Actor/Writer/Troublemaker

 THE STORY

So you’ve come here to learn about Billy Kirkwood and be dazzled? Well then mofo prepare to get your dazzle on! Billy Kirkwood was born in a little town on the sea called Irvine (yes the home of the Magnum Leisure centre…………I know I am awesome).

The youngest of three brothers Billy was forced to start making lots of noise as a way to attract attention to himself (mainly to avoid being left ‘by accident’ in Presto’s across western Scotland. When he discovered however that by causing chaos in public he not only irritated the piss about of his older siblings but also attracted the attention of those all around him, he has not stopped making noise since.

Jump forward a bit, after graduating with Hon’s Degree in Media Theory and Production from the University of Paisley) Ayr Campus……I know the awesomeness continues) Billy worked Free Lance in the TV and Film industry as well as Producer for the Highly Successful Ayrshire based Theatre and Community Education Production Company ‘LDB Productions’ which officially closed in September 2004.

Cast asunder on the waves of the world without a paddle Billy decided it was time to take all those skills and shenanigans he learnt and scratch a life long itch to have a crack at stand up comedy……..and he has never looked back.

THE STAND UP

Dubbed a bonifide ‘Comedy-fizz bomb’ by The List,  Billy burst onto stand up in 2005 and has quickly established himself as one of Scottish comedy' best acts.

Billy with an ever expanding, cult following, thanks to his Unique yet slightly surreal style of storytelling, likeable on-stage presence, energetic on stage performances, near non existent attention span, and is widely regarded as a must see act.

As well performing everywhere from a Subway Carriage, a rooftop bus, a Calmac ferry to the inmates at Shotts prison, Billy has also clocked up Sell out one man shows at the Glasgow and Edinburgh international comedy festivals, and as well as regular gigging at the stand’s in Edinburgh and Glasgow he can be seen gigging as an Act and MC all across the UK.
